1. O let us now praise our dear Savior and Friend;
It’s pleasing when child-like thanksgivings ascend!
As there He the chorus angelic doth hear,
So here He to children who thank Him gives ear.
2. Before we yet knew Him, He gave us His love,
And when we lacked something it grieved Him above;
Our parents He gave for our care every day,
And teachers, to show us the heavenly way.
3. He giveth us schools that through them we may find
The wisdom of God and the heavenly mind.
He calleth: “Ye children, come hearken to Me;
I lead you to rest, where you blessed shall be!”
4. He giveth us all proper lessons and tasks:
May each one learn gladly and do what He asks.
Life’s summer draws near, and then harvest, to show
That all who sow well His great blessings shall know!
