143. Beloved Friends, We Now Must Part

1. Beloved friends, we now must part,
Each one upon his way;
May God, who made us one in heart,
Guide us and be our stay.

2. For us the Lord but good intends,
And by His Word grants grace;
To him who weeps He comfort sends,
Gives warning when in place.

3. Let each in quiet go His way,
God’s Word shrined in his heart;
If Satan comes to lead astray,
With prayer make him depart.

4. Dear brethren, then be on your guard,
As pilgrims here below;
Your guide and rule be God’s true Word;
It shows how you must go.

5. Ye sisters all, let each one be
In service for the Lord;
O watch and pray unceasingly, -
That bringeth rich reward.

6. So then let us not be depressed,
Whatever may arise;
We journey on to endless rest
In yonder paradise!
