1. O faithful be!
So shalt thine end be glorious;
God will uphold and thou shalt be victorious!
Though here the struggle may be long and hard,
Thy faithfulness is honor to the Lord!
2. O faithful be!
For crowns above await them
As a reward with which the Lord will greet them,
Who here on earth until their final breath
Were ever faithful, even unto death.
3. O faithful be!
If guard we not are keeping
All is in vain, the foe is never sleeping!
Unless we faithful at our post remain,
All former victories will have been in vain!
4. O faithful be!
Who here in every trial
Will show his worth, - his praise meets no denial;
Were there no test, the strong could not be known,
Nor weak, nor faithful, nor those faithless grown.
5. O faithful Lord,
As Thou art love revealing
Anew to us each day and faithful dealing,
Grant that from day to day we all may be
More faithful, yea, more faithful unto Thee!
