156. O Suffer With Good Cheer

1. O suffer with good cheer!
God wills that He shall here
Thy life with crosses fill
So bear them, as He will.

2. To suffer as God will, -
Life’s goal we thus fulfill;
God’s kingdom we shall see
And Christ-like we shall be.

3. The crosses purify,
And every pain and sigh
Works good in us anew,
Makes child-like, humble, true.

4. A lowly, childlike mind
With God shall pleasure find;
With thee it well shall be,
If thus it is with thee.

5. Thou, as a child, draw near –
A child’s plea God will hear!
He’ll bless thee day and night,
Nor let thee from His sight.
