173. We Greet You, Our Companions Blest

1. We greet you, our companions blest,
Ye pilgrims unto heaven,
On whom Christ’s Spirit here doth rest,
In wondrous measure given:
In Jesus’ Name we greet you all,
And may His blessings on you fall!

2. O little flock, do thou increase
In grace above all measure;
And enter in unto His peace,
For that is God’s good pleasure!
All who are great must first become
A child, to find the heavenly home!

3. O pilgrim, take this comfort here
That brief is pain and weeping;
And Christ’s redeemed should have no fear,
But cling to His safe-keeping!
So every child to Him must needs
Submit, and follow where He leads!

4. May each one in his proper place
On Christ, the Rock, be founded;
Through Spirit and the Word of grace
Inspiréd be, well grounded;
That all to Jesus hallowed be,
For Light and Star to us is He!

5. This is my wish, warm and sincere,
Ye pilgrims unto heaven:
To all within our bond so dear,
May Christ’s own power be given:
He makes us by His cross and blood
Into a true heart-brotherhood.
